Complete a comprehensive client consultation, skin assessment, medical history and contraindication screening before commencing treatment.

Assess the client's skin type, hair colour, hair thickness, treatment area, previous hair-removal methods and relevant treatment history.

The treatment area should be appropriately prepared according to the professional laser hair-removal protocol. Hair is generally shaved rather than waxed or plucked before laser treatment so that the follicular target remains present.

Select the appropriate spot size and treatment parameters according to the treatment area, skin type, hair characteristics and professional protocol.

Both the client and operator must wear appropriate laser-specific protective eyewear throughout treatment.

Apply the handpiece systematically across the treatment area according to the supplied treatment protocol while monitoring the skin response and treatment endpoint.

Following treatment, apply the appropriate post-laser skincare and provide the client with clear homecare and sun-protection instructions.

A course of treatments is generally required because laser hair reduction is dependent on the hair-growth cycle. Maintenance treatments may subsequently be required.
